Swedish Stars Shine in Middle Distance Thriller at Idre Fjäll

In front of a home crowd and on challenging Scandinavian terrain, Tove Alexandersson and Max Peter Bejmer delivered world-class performances – though in very different ways.

Alexandersson looked unstoppable early on, leading comfortably at the second TV control. But a late mistake nearly cost her the win. Regaining control in the final section, she held off Switzerland’s Simona Aebersold by 27 seconds, finishing in 34:35. France’s Cécile Calandry secured third, just over a minute behind.

- I felt great in the beginning, but then made a big error. I’m happy Imanaged to push through and still take the win, Tove Alexandersson said.

In the men’s race, it was a day to remember for Max Peter Bejmer, who took his first World Cup victory. Even though his compass was broken, Bejmer kept his cool and finished in 35:16, just ahead of teammates Anton Johansson and Gustav Bergman – securing a full Swedish podium.

- It was messy, but I stayed focused and took it control by control, Bejmer said. He continues:

- To win here in Sweden, with such strong competition, feels unreal.

The Swedish team impressed across the board, placing multiple runners in the top both races. The final day of the Idre round – Sunday’s relay – promises even more excitement.
